SPOTLIGHT: THANKS TO CAMPAIGN ’15 DONORS, ARTSFUND AWARDS OVER $2.4M IN GRANTS
With the close of Campaign 2015, ArtsFund awarded $2,420,680 in grants to 55 nonprofit arts groups in King and Pierce Counties. Thank you to the hundreds of businesses and thousands of individuals who donated to this year’s campaign. Last year, ArtsFund helped 55 arts organizations put on over 10,100 exhibitions and productions, fill the gap in arts education by providing over 785,880 tickets to students, and increase access to the arts for populations where cost is a barrier by providing over 1,380, 000 free and discounted tickets. Funds raised in Campaign ’15 will help us to do even more.
Your gifts to ArtsFund, when distributed through our annual general operating support grants, make a big difference in this region. Hear how from the leaders of Early Music Guild, Earshot Jazz, and EMP Museum.

“ArtsFund grants have strengthened EMP’s operations since the museum opened its doors and through our 15th anniversary this year – helping us create inclusive cultural experiences for more than ½ million people annually. ArtsFund’s Allocations program represents an increasingly rare yet vital source of renewable, unrestricted support for EMP Museum and for 50+ affiliated local arts groups.
“ArtsFund support enables EMP to get out of the museum and into our community’s daily life — through in-school teaching artists residencies that help students with oral presentation skills using rap, hip-hop, and the art of the voiceover or improving writing skills using comics, cartooning, and graphic novels; and through professional development for educators, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to fuse the knowledge of STEM disciplines with the energizing, emotional, and aesthetic power of the arts.”

“ArtsFund supplies support, inspiration and leadership in equal measures. ArtsFund’s support of arts organizations continues to be a critical piece of the funding puzzle for our region. As arts leaders we are always seeking points of stability in the shifting landscape of arts funding, and annual general operating grants from ArtsFund represent a significant promise of support for many of us. But over the years I learned to value the structure around that promise as something even more significant. The ArtsFund allocation process asks organizations to know their businesses inside and out. The application implies a rigor that when approached seriously, encourages and rewards the best practices in management, board development, and planning. It serves as a regular reminder to arts boards and staffs that great artistic plans require a solid underpinning to achieve success and sustainability.”

“ArtsFund’s dynamic concept of ‘support’ advances our organization on several levels. Beyond essential funding initiatives that enable us to serve the diversity of exciting new work, Arts Fund programs help us continually refine our administrative systems, while their effective board-leadership program actively enriches both the profile and the capacity of our board of directors. We’re grateful to be part of Seattle’s renowned cultural community, and Arts Fund’s legacy of stewardship.”
